SHOWGIRL COSTUMING TIPS
Amazon is a great place to find gloves of all colors and styles. I entered long opera gloves in the search engine to find the styles I use. Just be sure to pick a quick shipping date. A lot of stuff on Amazon comes from China, so you want to make sure it's delivered in time-and in time means well before your first rehearsal!
I always wear tan or black full fishnet tights when I perform because I tend to dance full out and I don't want a vag lip to get loose lol!! But not all burlesque performers wear full fishnets and prefer just wearing thigh highs instead.
Capezio Women's Professional Fishnet Seamless Tight
These are great because the bottom of the foot is padded, so you're not standing on fishnet!

Corsets can be expensive and overwhelming to perform in if you aren't used to steel bone corsets. I wear steel bone and have found Orchard Corsets have great flexible mesh corsets for a newbie corset wearer. Their website also includes great information about how to size yourself and which style of corset will be best for you body. I can also help with this as I have ordered and wear a lot of their corsets. They also ship quickly so you can practice in it and "season" (breaking it in for your body) it in plenty of time before the showcase. Suggested seasoning time is three to four weeks, so order yours ASAP, so you can season and embellish and practice moving in it well before your first rehearsal.
If a corset is not for you but you still want a waist cincher, Shapewear is a great vintage looking option. I wear shape wear in a lot of the more vintage-y style shows I do. High-waisted briefs, waist cinchers, bullet bras... shape wear can be a fun alternative!

BRAS and PANTIES:
With both bras and panties, the most important thing is fit. As long as the fit is good you can embellish both of these easily to make them look more costume-y. I have used Bras and Panties from Target, Victoria's Secret, and Vintage re-sale stores and made them into costume pieces. If you haven't dyed fabric before, it may be safer to also pick your bra and panty based on color. If you are more adventurous try Dyeing!!
Rit Dye More- great dye for synthetic fabrics (which most bras and panties are) You can find it at Joanns or most craft RIT DYE MORE
Manic Panic- I have recently discovered that my hair dye also works for softer colors on light fabric!! I threw some neon green on a garter belt and It worked out amazing! Just follow the instructions on the packaging!! Secret Showgirl tip!! You can find Manic Panic at Sallys or most beauty supply stores. MANIC PANIC
If you plan on wearing thigh highs and a garter belt I highly recommend spending money on a quality garter belt. It makes all the difference especially if you want to hide a simple cut panty underneath. Garter Belts are one of those things where you get what you pay for.

For more neo/contemporary styles:
Also Search "Burlesque" on Etsy.com and you will find tons of stuff!
Rhinestones are a great way to make anything more Burlesque! And its easier than you would think! Rhinestones can be expensive but the two options below are what I've found are the best quality for the lowest price.
Pro-tip: Consider buying various shades and sizes in the same color family as your costume to add depth and dimension. Also, if choosing the "crystal" kind, the "AB" style has a more rainbow effect and looks really good against any main color. I work primarily with the 20ss/5mm and 16ss/4mm sizes; anything smaller is difficult to work with and any bigger tends to look too big.
